It’s the store opening that’s had the interior designers gossiping for weeks. Apple have rejuvenated their Regent Street site, and the new look by Foster + Partners is a triumph when it comes to incorporating natural materials and utilising open-plan space.
Based on the San Francisco store by the same British design team (which is now intended to be the blueprint for future openings), the Regent Street site embraces the cool, contemporary and modern while still maintaining an ‘organic’ approach to interiors.
And it seems Foster + Partners have excellent taste when it comes to wood choices, as oak timber has been used for the fittings and fixtures. What’s more, in part of the store called the Avenue, there are tree-filled planters that not only bring a wholesome freshness to the space but also double as seating. These materials are joined by a stone walls, accents of bronze and a white terrazzo floor, with light boxes that run the length of the store illuminating the action.
Looks like we might have to make a trip to London to get hold of that new i-Phone after all!
