In the third and final part of our series, we round up some more ways in which you can add value to your home with the help of a green oak frame built by English Oak Buildings. Whether you want to increase the market price of your property for the future, or are looking for a specific investment opportunity, we’re giving the low-down on ways oak architecture can be financially beneficial to your self-build.
In the first part of the series, we discussed the advantages of oak extensions – whether for improving your kitchen, adding an extra bedroom, creating a home office, or introducing a garden room. In the second part we looked at making the most of small plots of land (you might have space for a property you never considered!), as well as garden architecture and porches.
Now, in this final blog, we look at increasing your Kerb Appeal with an oak garage, getting around awkward access to a plot of land, and introducing one of the most impressive oak-framed structures you can have – a swimming pool!
Oak Garages
Ah, the garage. An often untapped resource for adding value to your property, and a great excuse to also improve the aesthetics of the outside appearance of your home. This is what we mean by ‘Kerb Appeal’ – presenting an attractive exterior for anyone visiting. The majority of buyers will decide if they do not like a property before they even get out of the car, so it’s important to create a positive first impression.
There’s no denying that an oak garage is a beautiful addition to a home, while also being multifunctional. Having off-street parking is a highly desirable asset, and there’s also the option to create a separate room in the roof over the garage. These areas are perfect for a home office or guest rooms, or simply for storage.
Like all of our buildings, our oak garages use traditional mortise and tenon joints and are held together using handmade oak pegs, and the addition of wide curved braces and oak cladding makes for an attractive and practical design.
Improving your land, despite awkward access
There’s a possibility that you have a piece of land that’s ideal for an extension, garage, or oak outhouse – all of which would dramatically increase the value of your home. However, you have a problem with access, such as neighbouring boundaries or an awkward road. Fear not, because at English Oak Buildings we can produce a frame that sits perfectly on the site. Take a look at this example for the Black family, and contact today if you think we can help.
Oak-Framed Swimming Pool
Few things are as jaw-droppingly impressive as a private swimming pool – apart from a swimming pool situated within its own bespoke oak frame. Perhaps you’ve been considering adding a pool to your property for a while but needed that extra push – well, not only can you gain personal pleasure from a swimming pool, but you can rest in the knowledge you’ll be adding value to your property! And the open plan nature of these rooms also means that your entire frame will be on show.
Our expertise is essential in these circumstances, since the increased width needed can be more difficult to construct. However, at English Oak Buildings we have the skills to create a frame that perfectly fits with the design and intricacies of your pool. Just contact for more details!
