A Green Oak Frame – Perfect for a Bedroom

One of the delights of either creating your own green oak frame or adding an extension to an existing property, is deciding what to do with the rooms. You may already have definite ideas or you may be waiting to get inspiration when built. And a room that always benefits from a facelift is the bedroom.

Green oak beams make for a prominent feature in any room, and give the chance to really play with various styles. You might find that a lot of other adornments aren’t necessary. In the example above, taken from Meadow Cottage in Redhill, the walls are kept plain and white to maximise the effect of the timber. The house is a very traditional brick build, with an oak extension that echoes the rustic nature of the property. In this room, dark wood furniture such as the four poster bed, chest and bureau complement the simplicity, and make for a stunning and yet unfussy bedroom that has a hint of Elizabethan style.

Another addition we see a lot of is spare bedrooms, which transform an extension. The chance to have another space for guests is a real draw to expanding, and with our oak frames then rooms can be flooded with light and offer astounding views that really show off your property. In fact, don’t be surprised if the ‘spare room’ gradually becomes your own place to rest your head at night!
